My condolences and sympathies go out to the Patel family. I met Sunny and all his friends at Dawson College. Bonded playing basketball with them throughout our college years and in parc-ex. I never really had any Indian friends growing up, always invited me in, made me feel like family. Always coming out to their events and parties. Memories I will always cherish. One day, we will play basketball again! 1luv - Russell

My deepest condolences to the Patel family. We knew each other in high school and shared many fun memories through high school days like any teenagers. It’s been so long since but you were part of the group where we all became friends because of our immigrant backgrounds (study hard and party harder) and teaching me how cool phat farm was. Although we grew apart going on our separate ways I was glad to have known you, you’ve always been a good person and friend. May you rest in peace Sunny. Helen xox
Sunny,
Thank you for bringing us so much joy and being an older brother who we can always count on. [We] will miss you very much and hope you are resting in peace wherever you are. We are so proud of you and love you with all of our hearts.

Thank you for these lovely messages. I have received the private ones as well and will pass them along. -- Vijeta
This eulogy was read by Vijeta Patel on Monday, October 9th at the funeral.
Hello everyone, my name is Vijeta. I’m Thakorbhai’s daughter, and I am here today to remember and celebrate the life of Sundeep Patel, Sunny, who was my cousin and a cherished part of our family.
Sunny was an October baby and as such was always the youngest in his class. He had the ears that stuck out a little too much. I have fond memories of our early childhood— us playing together while Ba and Bapuji watched us while our parents went to work.
Sunny was a joker and loved to tease people. One of his playful habits was sneaking into the kitchen when Vanitafoi was cooking, throwing some salt into whatever dish she was preparing, and then claiming credit if it turned out great. I once asked him if it was also his fault if it turned out bad, and, of course, it never was. He'd say something about how that’s the chef’s responsibility, and he only made things better.
In high school, Sunny was pretty popular. He played sports, had a fantastic sense of humour, and a charismatic personality. I was always envious of his effortless ability to make friends. He was fortunate to find a group of friends who became an inseparable part of his life, supporting each other through parties, weddings, and life's ups and downs. Sunny and I moved in different social circles, but I see so many familiar faces here today, and I thank you for being a part of his life. Your friendships brought immense joy to him.
I would like to share some words from Sunny’s brother Tejash:
“Sunny, I love you. You’re the best big brother I could have asked for. I learned so much from you. I understand you were stressed and I wish I knew the right ways to help you when you were with us. I hope you are at rest and at peace wherever you are.”
My 5-year-old daughter, Meera, remembers him as the uncle who brought her the biggest gifts. From a bike that brought her immense joy on her birthday to his infectious enthusiasm during family gatherings, Sunny had a unique way of spreading happiness. He delighted in spoiling my children and never missed an opportunity to bring smiles to their faces.
Sunny adored his dogs, Einstein and Isaac. They were a comfort to him, and they surely miss his presence.
It's heartbreaking to lose someone so young, and I can't help but think of the moments Sunny will miss, especially in the lives of my children. I think of the unimaginable loss his parents and brother have endured. Yet, I try to focus on the joyous memories we shared.
Thank you to our family for coming together so quickly and for your unwavering support. Thank you to all the extended Indian community for being here and showing your love. And thank you to all of Sunny’s friends, acquaintances, and coworkers for sharing in his life. Your presence and kind words mean the world to us during this time of mourning.
Sunny, you will always hold a special place in our hearts, and your memory will live on in the love and warmth you brought into our lives.
